Tuesdays Tribute and a New Look!!

Monday, June 29, 2009
Tuesday's Tribute

Today I want to pay tribute to a great bloggy friend and an amazing designer! If you are a frequent friend here in the Crazies you may notice we have renovated here in blog world! I love it and I hope you do too!!

I started blogging back in January and I knew absolutly nothing about HTML codes and cutting and pasting and all that jazz. I joined a few great networking sites and low and behold I met Sara... Goddess of blog design! I started following her blogs ( she runs a few) and fell in love with her style and designs! I was using a basic free layout I found on the web but wanted something that said "ME" so I started looking around and just when I was trying to narrow it down I saw one of Sara's amazing designs pop up on on of my favorite blogs... A Daily Dose of Toni!!

Seriously, if you havent seen her blog go check it out!! I immediatly knew I had to have Sara do my blog makeover so I signed up right away!

Sara is a work from home mommy to her fur babies and is amazingly talented! She provided tons of designs for me to browse through and will work with you every step of the way. I was pretty vague with her... I told her the colors I loved and that I am girlie... I also know she is a follower of mine so I think she has read enough of me to "get" what I was looking for! Fabulosity in the Crazy House is what I wanted and I think she hit the nail on the head! Her fee is far more reasonable than alot of other designers I looked at and I think her work speaks volumes... she deserves much more than she charges!! Payment and installation was initiated Monday morning ( once I had approved her draft.. which took 1 day because she is that good!!) and she had the whole design installed for me today! I seriously didnt have to copy, paste or HTML anything! And I have a cute little new button to match my design... so be sure to grab the new one and toss out the old!!

So if you are looking for a whole new design or even some little extras... please please please be sure to head over to Sara's and check her out!! I wouldnt recommend anyone else!

Quotable Sundays~ Flying

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Its Sunday again and that means its time for Quotable Sundays over at Toni's!!!

Once again we have my nephews here and Kylie just got home late last night from Texas but I am dragging everyone early this morning to the Air National Guard Air Show. I grew up with a love of all things Military as my dad was in the Army and my step dad was a pilot. He instilled a deep love of planes and jets at a young age and if I had been born a boy or a girl with perfect eye sight and no asthma I would have gone into the Air Force to fly myself!
So I enjoy this tradition and this is actually the first year my son will be coming. * I secretly hope he is facinated beyond all belief and wants to get involved in our obsession!!

So I chose my quotes today on Flying!

1.)The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? - it is the same the angels breathe. ~Mark Twain

2.)You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky. ~Amelia Earhart

3.)Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

4.)Once you have learned to fly your plane, it is far less fatiguing to fly than it is to drive a car. You don't have to watch every second for cats, dogs, children, lights, road signs, ladies with baby carriages and citizens who drive out in the middle of the block against the lights.... Nobody who has not been up in the sky on a glorious morning can possibly imagine the way a pilot feels in free heaven. ~William T. Piper

5.)The bluebird carries the sky on his back. ~Henry David Thoreau

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Happy Birthday to ME!!
Today is my birthday and I had a great day!
One of my co-workers baked me my fav cake... carrot cake... this morning before work and whats better than a slice of cake with my tea for breakfast! hey, its my day, so I can eat what I want!!

I had to drive to my other office at lunchtime and one of my other coworkers got me McDonalds Nuggets for lunch. So totally NOT nutritious but who cares?

Then hubby cooked dinner ( nothing fancy, just hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled zucchini and garlic pasta) and my family was here to have dinner. We also had a chocolate cake tonight too!

Wow... I ate a lot of junk today! Better get to bed so I can get up and hit the treadmill tomorrow!
So I am 36 now. Yeeeuuupppp.

My biological dad, whom I have a pretty decent but distant relationship with ( they live in Maine) called this morning at 6:45 and this is what he said
" Happy Birthday to you.. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday my daughter, Happy Birthday to you ( singing..) So your step mom and I were just talking and we realized you only have 4 more years til you hit the big 40!"

Yea dad... GREAT! Thanks! Off to work I went with a sideways smile... hu... ok then. 4 more years. Strange!

Hope you all had a great day!!

HomeFree Allergy Free Cookies~ Review

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Here in the Crazy house we have allergies, and funky taste in foods, and dietary issues.

No one eats the same things and I end up cooking a few meals each night as well as spending a ton on groceries... snacks, veggies, organics. Its a bit.. well... crazy. We also have some friends of the Crazies with food allergies. Man, so many kids nowadays have allergies to nuts and dairy, its a bit scary having them all over because I never know what to give them.

We recently had the opportunity to try HomeFree Cookies. These are treats made for people with several types of allergies, or for people in general that are cautious about what is in the food they eat.

We were sent a package of Chocolate Chip Cookies and also a few individually wrapped Oatmeal cookies and mini chocolate chip cookies.

Hubby was the first to try them, and then Trevor decided, "hey, its food.... I will have some"

The consensus? Not bad at all!

I am the picky eater in the family and I thought these cookies were tasty. I am not really a cookie person but the kids really liked them.. they were a good treat and a really good idea to have if you have children with dietary restrictions and what a great product to have on hand if you are like us, and have friends over often with nut allergies.

All HomeFree products are Peanut, Dairy, Egg and Tree Nut Free!!

Here is alittle information from Jill, the founder of HomeFree:

"As a mom, and a clinical psychologist, I realize how important it is for kids with food allergies to feel included at social occasions, where a sweet treat is often part of the fun. I created HomeFree™ bakery, with a line of delicious, wholesome cookies and cakes, as well as a cook book full of easy to make allergen-free recipes, so that kids with food allergies can enjoy treats along with everyone else. Seeing the smiles on the faces of kids eating HomeFree cookies and cakes, you’ll feel good knowing that these really are treats you can trust. "

I have a party coming up and 3 of the kids friends coming have nut allergies so I plan on trying the coffee cakes they sell too!!

Please visit their website today for cookies, coffee cakes and a cookbook too!!

Little Trevor~isms

Monday, June 15, 2009
We are t~minus 2 days until the last day of school! Ky graduates from 8th grade tomorrow at 9am and then Jo and Trev have a half day Wednesday. God bless my girlfriend Julie. She is hosting a last day of school pool party at her house for the boys... she will pick up Trev along with a bunch of others right after school and then host a party for a few hours at her place! Yea... Um... Not me!

A coworker (whom takes too much time off from work) called out again today after some surgery so it was a bit CRAZY in the office today and I think I might have been rude to a few patients as well as the Doctor and a few other coworkers... but oh well... such is life when one is trying to do 3 jobs at once.

But I did just realize that we have 3 paychecks in July ( we get paid every other Friday) so thats wicked good news considering I am leaving for Disney in July and can use all the extra benjamins I can get!

Trev had us crackin up at the Relay for Life this weekend with some of his witty Trevor~isms...

***A quick background note of the Trev~Dog... Trev had classic Baby Bottle Syndrome ( basically in a nut shell... I was a bad mommy and gave him too much juice and didnt take good care of his baby teeth therefore they rotted when he was only 2 years old and he had to endure 4hrs of surgery to remove and repair... dont berate me... 4 hrs pacing outside an operating room while your 2 year old is in surgery is enough of a guilt trip for me OK?) Anyhoo... because of said removed teeth... Trev's speech was a little wonky during the last couple years until his adult teeth came in this year...

" Mommy... I am bringing my PSP to play in the tent ok?"

"Okat Trev, just dont forget to charge it during the day and dont forget your games?"

" what, my wideo games?" (video)

"Mommy, I yuv you" (luv)

" Mom, Juyeee is picking me up on Wednesday, right?" (Julie)

"Mommy, why did you buy orange flowers to give to my teachers?"

" Well Trev, Why do you think I picked orange?"

" Oh, so I can tell the teachers to memorize me" ( remember me!)

There it is ladies and gentleman... my little orange haired boy!

Totally Texty~Review

I love my Jojo. really.... I.... do!!
Jojo is a difficult child, think we have talked about that before!

The biggest issue with Jojo right now is Hygeine.

She will take showers but hates to wash her hair and hates to brush her teeth. Gross, I know!

So we monitor her 9 yr old tooth brushing behavior and I hope that she actually washes her hair in the shower because frankly, I just dont have time to stand in the bathroom and watch her.

We had a great opportunity to review a product designed just for Jojo!

Totally Texty shampoos and conditioners are designed for the tween-teens that dont like to wash daily and end up with the smelly, oily hair!

We received a large bottle of both shampoo and conditioner for girls and Jojo tried it right away that night. She said her hair felt soft and I could see how shiny it was as it was drying.

The next night I told her she could take a night off.... and I asked my fourteen year old Kylie to try it. She is so picky about her shampoos and conditioners, she does use a semi~permanent color rinse in her hair, so she usually uses color treated products, but she agreed to try it.

She LOVED it!! She also said the shampoo made her hair soft and it even made it easier for her to straighten it in the morning, as she showers at night.

Two days later and Jojo's hair still smells good and looks like she just washed it!

Here's some info from their site:

"DDG is an everyday shampoo for normal hair. Totally Texty™ uses a quality surfactant (soap) and a natural deodorizer that helps keep your hair smelling clean and fresh longer between shampooing. DDG's fresh and clean feminine scented shampoo will leave your hair soft, silky and manageable. Our shampoo comes in a 12 oz (300 ml) fully recycleable bottle."

The neat thing is that all the products are designed like cell phones which really appeal to your tween-teen!! They sell products designed for boys as well as girls!!

The girls DDG shampoo and conditioner retail for $15 a bottle and these are good size bottles. Please visit Totally Texty for ordering info!!

They should last us a while and if you are like me, you end up buying salon products that your kids use... so now they can have their own!!

** I am a hairdresser by trade and would highly recommend these products...we were very pleased with the results!!

Stress and a Recipe!!

Wednesday, June 10, 2009
This has just been Crazy. Go Go Go and I cant seem to get a handle on anything lately!
My new work hours suck and I cant really get a grasp on where and when I am supposed to be working... today... I started in one office, drove to the other office 30 minutes away, then finished my work there early and so I drove home (45 min) and picked up Jojo and Kylie, drove back to the Worcester office so that Jojo could have her 50 minute Visual Therapy appointment which has been pushed aside for a few weeks due to the new schedule. Kylie has all the sudden developed an astigmatism and needed a new contact lens. She is leaving next week for vacation with her Dad and step mom in Texas and cant possibly go without contacts!
So it has just been crazy!
We have been having my nephews over almost every weekend to give my aunt a break and as much as I adore them... having 2 extra lazy smelly teen boys kids in the house doesn't always make for a relaxing weekend! Between baseball, four wheelers, gas for the four wheelers, food, food, oh, and MORE food... finances are drained, and so am I!
Trev, Kylie and I are heading off to Disney for a week in July and I am appalled by the price of Disney Park passes... so that's another thing... financially budgeting that all in while dealing with the impending doom of summer vacation which here means Summer Camp to the tune of about $300 per week for the 2 little ones!

Am I venting?
Oh, Sorry!
On a positive note...
Ok... well, I cant really think of anything positive right now!
We did have a GREAT dinner. How's that?
It was so good in fact, I think I will post the recipe. Right here, right now! Why not!
Simple, tasty and quick!
Enjoy!

BBQ chicken skewers with rice pilaf and grilled veggies

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (thin) cut in slices

BBQ sauce ( or any other sauce you like)

bamboo skewers or metal kabob sticks

EVOO ( extra virgin olive oil)

Garlic salt

2 Cups Parboiled Rice

small yellow onion

5-6 spaghetti noodles. (yup.. just a few pieces of spaghetti)

4 Zucchini, peeled and sliced

10 small cherry tomatoes

4 cups chicken broth

Aluminum Foil

Thread chicken strips onto skewers

brush lightly with EVOO and sprinkle with garlic salt

set aside BBQ sauce for later.

drizzle EVOO into sauce pan, and add 1/2 chopped onion

tear pasta into little pieces and add to Evoo and onion.

Cook on medium heat just until onion is tender and spaghetti turns light brown. DO NOT LET PASTA BURN!!

add salt and pepper

add 4 cups chicken broth and bring to a boil.Add 2 cups rice, drop heat to low-med and cover.

Cook until water is absorbed.Fluff rice and add more salt and pepper to season

Slice zucchini into slices or chunks. Add remaining onion and tomatoes.

Place on foil. Drizzle with EVOO and season with salt, pepper and garlic salt.

Seal foil tight on all sides.

Add chicken and foil pack to grill on medium heat.

Flip chicken every 3 minutes until no longer pink.

Brush with BBQ sauce and let cook for a few more minutes, careful to watch for burning.

Cook veggies until chicken is done... about 10-15 minutes depending on how thin chicken strips are.

Serve chicken skewers with dipping sauce of your choice over rice and veggies.

Pretty healthy and tasty too!!

Enjoy!!

Quotable Sundays~ BOYS

Sunday, June 7, 2009
Its time again for Quotable Sundays over at Toni's.
This weekend we have had my nephews here for most of the weekend... ah... Boys will be Boys! They are here with their guitars, their video games, their dirty socks and even their four~wheeler. So Steve (Hubby) and Trev and the boys have been out in the yard from sun up to sun down (Later though I kept yelling at them that it was dark and time to come in!)
So this weeks Quotes are about BOYS!

1.) “A boy is a magical creature - you can lock him out of your workshop, but you can't lock him out of your heart.”

2.)"Boys are beyond the range of anybody's sure understanding, at least when they are between the ages of 18 months and 90 years.”

3.)"There comes a time in every rightly constructed boy's life that he has a raging desire to go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure”

4.) "A boy cannot begin playing ball too early. I might almost say that while he is still creeping on all fours he should have a bouncing rubber ball.”

5.)"Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout "Bang!"

Be sure to head over and join us at Toni's for more Quotable Sundays!!

One Great Allergy Product!!

Saturday, June 6, 2009

Allergies are miserable. Allergies are terrible. Allergies, basically SUCK! OK, now that this is out of the way, we here in the Crazy House have tons of allergies.

We had the great opportunity thanks to Chloraseptic to try Allergen Block.

This is a great product. You put a small amount on your finger tips and then spread over your nostrils. This product creates a barrier.. like an invisible bandage.. around your nose to prevent pollens and other allergens from getting into your nasal passages.

Here is a bit about their product from their site:

"Allergy sufferers, there’s a NEW way to fight allergens -- block them!
Introducing a revolutionary new product that helps prevent nasal allergy symptoms by blocking both indoor and outdoor airborne allergens on contact.

Unlike other allergy medicines that work inside your body while you’re suffering from:

• Sneezing

• Nasal congestion

• Runny nose

• Itchy nose.

NEW Chloraseptic™ Allergen Block works on the outside by creating an invisible shield that helps block airborne allergens before they enter the nose."

They also sent us a tube of Little Allergies Allergen Block. My son used this before his baseball games and he thought it worked so well! No more sneezing during his time up to bat and his eyes were not all red and itchy.

I would highly recommend these great products especially for kids with allergies. We will be using them all through allergy season!!

Please visit their website to learn more about all the products!!

Hippie Rehab~ Shed Cellulite for Summer!!

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Ok Ladies. You ready for this one? This product is really amazing.

Hippie Rehab is a two~part system to smooth and get rid of unsightly cellulite and bumpy loose skin.

Part one is : Opening Act

This is a pill that you take twice a day. 2 pills morning and 2 pills evening.

"To get the party started, take two of the all natural cellulite cleansing capsules twice a day to Rock Your Body from the inside. These little groupies will flush out all the harmful toxins, excess fluids and start to strengthen weak muscles tissue. After regular use, not only will your cellulite begin to diminish but your metabolism will rise to Rock Star Status."

Part two is: Headliner

This is a cream that you apply twice daily.

"Continue the party with the all natural, organic, cellulite cream. Massage in the cream twice a day, preferably after a hot bath or shower. You may apply the cream up to three times a day for even faster results. From the moment you put it on, Headliner goes to work toning and tightening the skin, making “shaking what your mama gave ya” a sight that everyone would want to see. Who knows, you may even get a backstage pass!"

I started using these products alittle over 2 weeks ago and I have seen a difference in the appearance of the skin not only on the back of my legs and butt area, but I also have smoothed some cream onto my lower belly where my little stretch marks and loose skin is after having my kids. I am noticing that the skin there as well, is tightening up.

I had a little trouble at first with the pills. I developed a severe sore throat due to allergies about 2 days after starting and to be honest swallowing 4 large pills a day was the last thing I wanted to do. So, I used Headliner most faithfully every day but the pills... not so much! I have now been taking them for the last 4 days and I really do feel less "puffy" so I hope that is a side effect!!

I would strongly recommend this product. I have tried several different creams for cellulite and firming products but this one so far takes the cake. I really do feel tighter and smoother! My Hubby even thinks I look better from the back-side as I am getting dressed!!

Please visit Hippie Rehab and check out the Spring Specials they have going on right now! you won't be disappointed!!

As an added bonus... the makers of Hippie Rehab have generously offered The Crazy readers $20.oo off your order!!

Please enter "PROMO" when ordering to receive your $20.oo off. This great deal, with the Spring Specials is really a great offer... I can promise you, you will love this product!!

Not having a good day!!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009
Today was not a great day! Stress at work! Lots of it!Seems my operating computer system at work hates me and so I have about 50 medical claims that wont cross electronically which makes my job a literal nightmare... so after 2 hours on the computer/phone with the tech people dialing into my computer (which means I cant do much but sit and play BeJeweled or watch Twilight on my iPod)... they still couldn't figure it out. So it is back to square one tomorrow... and trying to diagnose and repair again tomorrow and finally download a newer version of the software which probably will take hours. Joy!
Then we had a 'Tif' with another employee wasn't that fun!! Then I got to come home to a cranky hubby. Hubby own his own company. A commission based company, mind you. Commission in this economy isn't the best job to have right now. Up until 2 or 3 weeks ago we were doing fine. Well, not so much now. We are OK...but thank GOD we have managed to save some money because last week we had to tap into it a little for rent. (We are currently renting our dream house... not cheaply either..) and for the first month in over a year we would have been a little strapped if not for the money in the bank. But its scary! Real Scary! We now know that owning this house in the next year may not be a very realistic option ( the owners are in another state, couldn't sell the house at the high price they wanted in this economy.. so we lucked out renting)
We had high dreams of being able to make an offer close to what they were asking next year but don't think we will get the financing with the Mortgage companies being so stingy! So we have been blessed with a second year here... and we are truly blessed. We are in, pretty much, a mansion and hey, atleast we can say we got to live here for 2 years. BUT the thing is... we have lived comfortably here... with 3 kids, and 2 dogs.. and stuff. Lots of it! Four wheelers ( for our 10 acres).. snowmobiles... toys.... ride on lawn mower... so God forbid the economy doesn't pick up... we may struggle to find another house that will fit us all! We will continue to plug along.... we are doing much better than most... but its still freaking me out, and don't even get me started on Hubby. He is one giant ball of nerves and stress!
Ok... I wish I felt better after venting... But, I did get a haircut tonight and now atleast I feel pretty while being stressed!!

Hysterical Video you have to see!!

Monday, June 1, 2009
On Friday I spent the day at an 8 hour medical conference in Southbridge Mass... we had lectures on building and maintaining our practice in todays tough economy and discussions on the Optical Profession and how far it has come. All in all it was an okay conference with really good food and some pretty good lecturers. We were shown this video.. and because I thought it was SO funny, and if you or anyone in your family wears glasses or contacts, I think YOU will find it HYSTERICAL too!
