Weekend WrapUp

Sunday, May 31, 2009
We had the BEST time this weekend!!

We took the kids to Coco Keys Water Park!
We arrived there at about 1:00pm on Saturday. Our check in time wasn't until 4 pm but we figured we would get there, hang out at the water park for a few hours then check in to our room and have some dinner.

We were surprised to find that our room was ready early so we made our way up and changed into our suits and then went down to check out the water park. Our room was very tastefully decorated and had a Queen size bed as well as a full size pull out sofa for the kiddos.

We checked in down at the water park and got these nifty little wrist bands with micro chip barcodes in them so we all knew we were together and then we used to wrist bands to add money to each of the kids bands ( for snacks and the arcade) and to get a locker for our stuff.

The water park consisted of the Lazy river (my favorite!!).. the Parrots Perch... which is a really fun water 'hut' with lots of activities for the little kids...a large pool with 3 basketball hoops in the water and floating basketballs... the other side of the pool has this rope thingy that the kids can swing over to the other side of the pool.

Then there is and indoor/outdoor hot tub (though the temperature was alittle too cool for my liking) and the 3 waterslides.

We encountered a dilemma on Saturday with the water slides. The heater on the them had been left on all night Friday apparently and so the water was 120 degrees and so they had to flush them until late in the afternoon Saturday, but once they were opened it was awesome!! Two large waterslides that you go down on tubes and then a body slide... (Jojo went down the body slide about 100 times!!)

So all in all we had a blast! We were there Saturday until about dinner time, had dinner at a nearby restaurant with my sister and my nieces and then went back to play until 8, then off to the arcade until 9 then bed. We then met my sister and family again for breakfast, then checked out of our room, went back to the water park until about noon today. Then drove the hour home!

Then my wonderful Hubby went to the grocery store for me while I took the kids to a friends College Graduation party for awhile!

All in all it was a really nice relaxing weekend... now off to finish cleaning the house for the work week ahead!

Mega Review~ Kinesys Sunscreen

Saturday, May 30, 2009
I had another great opportunity to review one of my favorite types of products!

I was blessed with a red-head little boy and though It makes him so unique and special, it poses several challenges for us.... some that I am not very used to! I adore the sun! I am a sun worship-er and I know it isn't good for me, so I do take extra special precautions with my children. Kylie, my teen, was blessed with awesome Italian skin... even with sunblock on, she bronzes beautifully! Jojo and Trev have very fair skin and Trev cant really take the sun for more than an hour even with traditional sunblock!

We tried Kinesys Skin Care Sunscreen on Trevor and Jocelyn last weekend during the Memorial Day festivities. We had temps in the 80's and 90's and sun galore! With most other sunscreens we have to reapply to Trevor every half an hour and even after 2 or 3 hours we have to have him put a shirt on for the rest of the day! It kinda stinks for him, to be swimming in 90 degree weather with a tshirt on!

We received the Kids SPF 30 (in the orange spray bottle... I love spray bottle sunscreen, don't you?) and we LOVED it! Its oil and fragrance free and left the kids skin so soft!! I firmly believe it worked even better than other brands... higher SPF's!!

We also received the Girls SPF 30 spray, which my daughter LOVED also.. she thought it was cool that she had her own girlie bottle!!
Here is a little about their products from their website:
"A true performance sunscreen provides photo-stable broad spectrum protection and is easy to apply before and during any activity. It does not require messy rubbing and dries quickly without oily residue to hinder grip or comfort. It withstands vigorous activity and allows skin pores to breathe normally. Irritants such as oil, alcohol, PABA and preservatives have been replaced with more sophisticated ingredients. A true performance sunscreen maximizes protection, comfort and results. KINeSYS products meet all the characteristics of a true performance sunscreen, making them completely unique."
Please visit their website here to purchase products or get more information on these awesome products!!
I want to say Thank You to Kinesys and ExtraOrdinary Mothers for the great opportunity to review these amazing products!!

My Plans for Friday!!! Veggie Awesomeness!!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

*warning.... extremely awesome pics of food here!!

I am so excited!! Really... excited!! Ecstatic, even!!

Our local farmstand "Foppema's Farm" opens this Friday!!

This is bigger ( for me) than the carnival coming to town, or even

a really great band touring our area!!

I LOVE fresh veggies!! I hate, hate, hate store bought, rotting-by-the-time-you-bring- them-home veggies. I really don't care for vegetables at all but there is something about fresh tomatoes, and ripe zucchini, freshly grown lettuce.. oohh... YUM!!

Our little Foppemas grows just about everything including their own corn!! They also have these great little summer squash and zucchini 'balls'... yep, they grow em round... so fun!!

See... giddy I tell ya!!

So they open Friday and though some of my favs still aren't ready yet.. they will have a ton of other things ready for sale!!

Did I mention that Foppema's is actually right up the street from my house... actually on my way home from work.!!! How convenient for me!!! I usually stop a few times a week for salad fixin's!!

Oh and did I also mention that with all the salads I will be eating all summer, therefore, calories saved... Foppema's also bakes their own pies!!! YUP... I am in Heaven!!

So if you are looking for me.... I will be at the little farm stand!! ALOT!!

Tuesday's Tribute~ winter skin

Tuesday's Tribute

Its Tuesdays Tribute !!
I would like to pay tribute today to my pale, white, winter-tired skin!!
I was able to get out a bit this weekend and do some planting and some sun bathing.
I know, I know... suntans are so out! I did totally use sunblock though!
My skin feels like it hasn't seen the light of day in months and I was so glad to
get a little color ... My skin was looking pretty sad!
So now I have a little healthy glow... I will continue with the sunblock
and I have found a great sunless tanner for my pale and pasty looking legs.
So, farewell.... winter white.... sickly looking pasty legs and arms...
Besides.... I feel a bit slimmer and toned with a bit of a tan, don't you?
For more Tuesday's Tribute head on over!!

SmartKnitKids Seamless Socks~review

Saturday, May 23, 2009
Jocelyn, My 9 year old, is ADHD. I have blogged about her before. One of the serious things that we find difficult to handle with her is the fact that she can not tolerate change of any kind and she is OCD about certain things.

One of those things is her clothing. She likes to wear jeans that are so worn in that they are starting to get holes in the knees ( she likes them because they are lived in.... relaxed.... broken in, soft and comfy. ) Underwear and socks are a daily issue for us. Gross as it sounds.... she has only a few pairs of both... so needless to say her laundry gets done almost daily because not having her favorites clean and available to her can mean a melt down of gigantic proportions... for the whole house.

It was with great enthusiasm that we tried the seamless socks from SmartKnitKIDS!!!

These socks are a godsend. Amazing and comfortable... they made my little girl so happy!!

No seams at all... and the fabric is very stretchy and soft. Jojo has worn them every day since we got them!!

Here is a little about the product from their website:
"SmartKnitKIDS® patented seamless socks are perfect for children experiencing sensory processing differences, hypersensitivity or who simply can’t stand annoying seams! These super soft socks for sensitive little feet will not wrinkle or bunch and are proven to reduce irritation. No Seams to Bug Ya! Completely free of seams, the patented kids' socks are designed to provide comfort and relief to children who struggle with “bumps & lumps” in their socks"

The socks come in several different styles :ankle, crew and knee-high

The socks also come in several colors: white, black, pink, navy and purple

For more on these great socks, please visit SmartKnitKids and try these awesome socks for your kids and even yourself!!

* Hubby has issues with his OCD and sometimes he is uncomfortable in his socks. he tried the adult version of these socks and was pleasantly surprised with the feel and comfort!!

ProActiv Skin Care Line Review

Thursday, May 21, 2009
We had the opportunity to review ProActiv's trial line of skin care products.I have used these products and previously blogged about them before. I LOVE ProActiv!!
I know here are a ton of acne products on the market and I know I am not unique in supporting ProActiv but I couldn't be happier with the products and service they offer.
This time, when the opportunity came in to review this line I handed it over to Kylie, my 14 yr old daughter. She has very unpredictable skin. Sometimes it is gorgeous and other times ( y'all know... that time of the month) she breaks out something terrible.
I feel for her... because she doesn't deal with it every day so she doesn't know how to take care of her skin.
When the package arrived we sat down together and went over each step and what to do. ( It also came with a handy little cheat sheet guide for her to leave in her bathroom to help her ... )
Here's what we got.
1.)Renewing Cleanser 4 oz- wash twice daily with this gentle cleanser
2.) Revitalizing Toner 4 oz - Apply morning and night after using cleanser, with a cotton ball.
3.) Repairing Lotion 1 oz - Apply morning and night after steps 1 and 2.

We also were sent a tube of the Refining Facial Mask. This is a must have product!!
You can use this as a full mask once or twice a week and the best part is that you can put a small dab on individual blemishes at bed time and in the morning I can guarantee you that those little annoying pimples will be reduced or in some cases gone completely!!

Please be sure to head over and check out the great sales and specials ProActiv is offering now!!You can get their 30 day trial size kit for only $19.95 right now!! What a great price to try such an amazing product!!

Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil~ Review

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I recently had the chance to review a great product that really surprised me!!

Tropical Traditions is a company that specializes in Pure Coconut Oil.

They sent me their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and I was very skeptical at first.

I am a good cook. I also use alot of oil.. even though I know it isn't always the healthiest. I try to stick to Olive Oil but I don't always have it on hand.

I also do a lot of stir fry and grilling.

This oil arrived in a large glass jar. It almost looked like lotion when I first opened it. Curiously, as I had never heard of this product, I smelled it. It smells wonderful!!! I really just wanted to try some on my hands but kept reminding myself that this was food!!
So I tried a few spoonfuls in a chicken and veggie stir fry I made. It melts down into a liquid, like any other oil. It smelled great and I felt confident that I was cooking with something healthy!!
The taste was great!! I didn't notice a overly tropical coconut taste, though some sweetness was there... but the food was great! Moist and flavorful, just without the vegetable oil taste that some oils can leave behind.
Last night I put a spoonful in some Zucchini and summer squash that I threw on the grill in a grilling bag. YUM!!
Here's a little more info from their site:
"This Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest.
Virgin Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, a nutrient that supports the body’s immune system. Lauric acid is also found in human mother’s milk.
Virgin Coconut Oil is a food, and is one of the best cooking oils you can use. It has been a staple cooking oil for thousands of years in tropical climates. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil boosts the body’s metabolism, raises body temperatures, and helps provide greater energy which can lead to weight loss."
I am excited to continue to use this Coconut Oil. I have read all of the reviews and comments over at their website. I am optomistic about having a healthier family and if this is a product that can help me achieve that.... hey, I have to use oil when I cook anyway!! Why not choose a product that makes us healthier and makes us look and feel better!!
So please head over to Tropical Traditions and read about their great line of products, which also include skin care products and household cleaning products!!

The Strangeness where I work!!!

Tuesday, May 19, 2009
OK.. I just had to blog about this. It had me cracking up all day.
For those of you that don't know, I work for an eye doctor in a big city about 25 minutes from my little town.
Because we are in the city and most of the staff is from little towns, we find it funny and a bit annoying sometimes, with all the different types of patients walking through our doors.
Now don't get all crazy on me. This is not a prejudicial blog post. I have a diverse group of friends... this is more of a funny observation of the types of people we get. Got it? Good!!

For instance... a few years back my bosses were away on their summer vacation and I was in charge. I had to replace a girl at the front reception desk and try to get that done before the bosses came back.So I was on the 4th interview of the day when this man.... just some random man off the street walks in , mind you, we don't take walk ins.... by appointment in our fine establishment, anyhoo.... he walks in and asks to browse the frame selection.
Now as we are not really open, and we are short staffed... we told him he could browse for a few moments but would have to come back at a later time because we were actually closed for appointments. I then preceeded to take my next interview into my office, leaving my Optician alone at the front desk, doing some work. A few minutes goes by and I hear the gentleman leave. My optician then announces that this man actually stole frames off my board!! We run a very upscale Doctors office with high end designer frames such as Gucci, Coach, Burberry, Kate Spade... you get the idea!! So anyway... we run into the parking lot to get an idea of what he was driving and another coworker is walking in. She announces that this guy ran and got on a BIKE.... not a motorcycle... a BIKE... like a 10 speed... and peddled out of the parking lot.
So we called the cops! And sure enough, 20 minutes later the police arrive with the guy in the car, 10 of our frames and another 6 pairs from another office!!! We couldn't believe it!!
My boss is also Albanian. (here we go... nothing wrong with it. LOVE Albanians.. but the practice was founded by my boss's dad.. also Albanian.... so we get ALOT of Albanian patients who just walk in assuming Dr. Ted will fit them in. Wrong. Dr. Ted retired a long time ago and we book by appointment only.So we commonly refer to our office as the 'Bus stop' of Worcester!!

Today.... we had this guy in. Lets just say, he wasn't all together there. Or a few fries short of a happy meal, not the brightest bulb on the street. Ok??
I actually think that he might have suffered a head injury or something at some point and far be it from me to make fun of someone but good God was this guy crackin us up. I actually had to leave the sanctuary of my office, leaving my front desk receptionist alone at the front with this guy because his stories and non stop talking was driving me nuts. The last straw was this little ditti
" So, Leanne... ( he says to my front desk receptionist)... boy, my ride is running late. What time is it? Cuz I gotta get to the bank."
Leanne- " Its 3:50"
" Oh geez... I gotta get to the bank!!"
(at this point Leanne is trying to not encourage him as he has been rambling non stop for 45 minutes!!! But nope... the guys continues on:
" See Leanne... I really cant stop talking to all you pretty girls!! i have to get to the bank and get a new bank card because, see Leanne, I bought some adult movies and they said it was buy one get two for free but they charged me like $79.99 for each of them."

I About Died!!!
Are You Kiddin Me???
Who would tell someone that!!
So this post goes out to you Leanne.... Like I said.... we all have a great visual now of Mr. Porn King of Worcester and his awesome -Porn habits!!
** By the way... HIPPA prevents me from disclosing this patients info but I can say he is about 50 and not at all attractive.... quite the strange fellow!! Ughhh... gonna go gag now!!

Supernatural Home~ Book review~ Go Green with me!!

Allergies. Asthma. Colds and Flu bugs. And Pets....

What I am getting at is all the stuff that runs around my house on a daily basis.

I hate to clean. Hubby is OCD about cleaning but works his butt off running his own company so when we moved from our cozy small duplex I was informed that for awhile we might have to forgo the twice a month cleaning lady. And we have. Our much bigger house is also twice the cost of the little duplex, with three times the rooms to clean. And bathrooms... don't even get me started.

So when I had the chance to review this great book: Supernatural Home by Beth Greer

I was thrilled and jumped right into it!!

I was so surprised to read about all the toxins and chemicals in things that even I considered safe.

I am not an overly green person. Ok... I use the reusable cloth bags at the grocery store... though I still like plastic on occasion. They are great for taking messy lunches to work.. such as salad dressing ( leaks all too often) and I also use them for the little messes my dogs make. But other than the reusable bags and the fact that I like to grow my own veggies... I have a lot to learn about going green. This book really got me thinking not only about the environment but my kids health and safety in our own home.

Here's a little about the book from the website:

"On an average day you are exposed to hundreds, maybe thousands of chemicals… from the additives in your food and personal care products to things you come in contact with like your mattress or couch or even the paint on your walls. Green groups are releasing frightening studies about discovering chemical toxins in milk, plastic toys and lipstick.
Hundreds of chemicals in our food, cookware, furniture and cosmetics have been banned in countries around the world but are available here in the U.S. without warning labels. Lacking regulation by our government, it falls on us as consumers to watch out for ourselves and our families.
If you feel confused about the simple, practical things you can do to minimize your exposure and maximize your health, Super Natural Home, will give you the answers. "

I have learned alot so far and am not even done reading. I already have begun substituting some of my clenaing products for some natural non toxic cleaning products.. oh and did you know you can use vinegar? Yea, Vinegar for cleaning!! I am telling you, there are some great ideas!! And I did ditch the bleach. It was hard, but I did it!! I have been flipping back and forth through out the book since we got it a week ago.

I have a son and husband with asthma and my son and teen and I also have severe seasonal allergies. Alot of cleaners have such strong chemical smells and fragrance that I cant use them this time of the year.

My middle daughter is also ADHD and I am interested to see if we change some of the things we normally use and do around the house, if that will have any impact on her behavior??

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is fully committed to going green and also for those of you who haven't started yet but want to learn some really neat and simple things you can do to help your family stay healthy and keep the environment beautiful!!
Please visit Supernatural Home and pick up a copy of this great book for your family. The cost is only $15.95. I spend more than that on a book I read one time... I promise you will use this book over and over again ! It is a great little guide to have handy.

Scared and all alone.

Thursday, May 14, 2009
Here in the Crazy House, in the Crazy small town we had a Major dilemma this week. News crews, the whole sha-bang!
I didn't even hear about it until I got a call from the school system last night.
Apparently one of our bus drivers left a pre-k student on a bus at the bus depot all day!! The child didn't get off the bus at school and our school failed to alert the parents (?) that the student didn't show up at school.... just utter craziness!!
I am shocked.. well... because 2 of my kids attend this school... and I know the principal and vice principal very well, since I was a little girl. I have never had this happen to me. I have always commented on how well our town and school system handles things like this. We even had a large fire in town a few weeks ago and the town put out a call to all parents to update us all on the fire and the students who might have been involved.
This shocks and saddens me. I can only imagine how scared this child must have been. I have also heard rumors that this isn't the first time this particular bus driver has left a child... so its pretty scary!! I am lucky that I drive my kids to school and they only take the bus home a few times a week... but then again... my kids are so damn loud and outspoken I am sure they wouldn't get left behind!!

SkinMD Shielding Lotion Review and Giveaway!!

Monday, May 11, 2009

I had the great opportunity to review another awesome product.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion with SPF 15

This was a great product to try here in the Crazy House. I know I have posted before about Hubby's dry feet problem... and the countless products we have tried!

I also work at a doctors office... which means washing of the hands takes place several times a day as well as working with paper... does everyone out there know how drying working with paper can be on your hands. Plus to top it all off... I wear a gel overlay on top of my natural nails and as gorgeous as they are.. (hehehe) it does wreak havoc on my cuticles.

So when this product arrived Hubby and I snuck it off to the bathroom and there it has stayed.. propped between our dual sinks. I have been using it for about a week now, Hubby started using it the day it came in about 2 weeks ago and let me tell you... this product works so well!

There is no greasy residue like you will find with alot of other lotions. Hubby says it dries on his feet very quickly so that he can then put on his socks and sneakers and head out the door.

Here is some information directly from Skin Md's site:

"A conventional lotion is not formulated to protect the skin like a shielding lotion does. Conventional lotions only add surface moisture to temporarily alleviate dry skin or itching. Shielding lotions stay on because they bond with the skin and protect it for long periods of time. With this protection in place your skin keeps its own moisture in and has a chance to use this natural moisture in the deep layers of the skin to heal itself," states Dr. Lisa Benest, a board certified dermatologist of Burbank, CA.

The bonus for most people is that this product has SPF 15 .... for me... I am one of those people who tend to like to get alittle color BUT I also know it is unhealthy for me so I guess having the SPF is a good thing! By the way... My son is a red-head and he has very sensitive skin. He was getting ready for school the other morning and had a few bug bites on his arms. I had no problems applying Skin MD to his sensitive skin... and he not only said it soothed the itch... but I felt good knowing his skin was protected from the harsh sun... with him, the more sunblock the better!!

Its Monday again and time for Not Me Monday courtesy of MckMama.
Head over to her place and see what its all about!!

1.) I did not wake up sneezing and coughing and itching my red eyes this morning from the windows that Hubby did not leave open last night!
2.) I did not have an emotional breakdown at the cemetery yesterday while being there with my niece and all our friends for the one year anniversary of my cousins' death.
3.) I did not dance around the house yesterday afternoon all excited with my new touch screen phone ... a Mother's Day gift from the Hubby and kids!
4.) I did not then spend 4 hours downloading software and songs and pics onto said phone... nope, wasn't me!
5.) I absolutely did not have 2 pieces of cake at my moms house to celebrate Mothers Day !! Nope wasn't me!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Happy Mother's Day to all of my readers and family!!!
I normally enjoy participating in Quotable Sundays with Toni but this week I am sitting it out as it is Mother's Day and I have a ton of things to do today.
First I am headed to the cemetery with the special women in my life to spend an hour selfishly grieving (still) for Michelle and Todd... as they passed away last Mother's Day. It is obviously going to be a rather difficult day. Then I have to put on a smiley face and go spend the day at my moms house for a cookout which actually should be fun but I am hoping I can break out of the 'funk' after the cemetery.
In between the cemetery and moms, Kylie and I are having our nails filled and then I am going to see my BFF at the AT&T Store and see about getting a new phone. I was looking at possibly an iPhone ( I really want the Blackberry Storm BUT I refuse to drop AT&T and they only work for Verizon ) so I think I will stick with BB for now ( I do really love my Curve... just time for something new....) I will check out the Blackberry Bold. We shall see!!

I hope you have a glorious day and on a sad note.... enjoy your children as much as you possibly can... Remember Todd and Michelle today and that in the blink of an eye things can take a turn you didn't expect!(Sorry to get morbid on you all.... )

Luke Warm Water and Four-Wheelers!!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009
I have been busy once again here in the Crazy House... but then again, who isn't!
You know... work, home, Trev's baseball, Jo's vision therapy, Steve's big Boxing Show coming up ( will post more on that later), Ky's chorus concert and saving the planet from Swine Flu but hey, what are ya gonna do?
So much swimming through my head that I am just gonna write it all out... follow along if you dare!!

So Bret Michaels was AWESOME!!! We drove an hour to see him live in Hampton and he rocked!! We were only about 3 rows back... screaming girls crushing me for space in front... but never-the-less... it was amazing. One of the best shows I have seen! Here is one of the pics I took from my phone.. OK... its not GREAT quality but its still BRET, baby!

Saturday morning Trev had a baseball game... he did great! Then it was off to my sisters gym for a taping of her Body Pump class ( she had to tape it for her certification)
I am pretty active! (I used to be an aerobics instructor before the kiddos)
I typically stick to Pilates and Yoga... as I was blessed with my fathers natural muscles and when I look at a weight... I bulk up like Popeye!! This class kicked my BUTT!! Seriously, it was an hour of fast paced lunges, squats, and chest and back and arm...ok.. a whole body workout with weighted bar.... while moving through the movements really quick! I managed to keep up, dropped the weight down to light, but its Tuesday night and my muscles are still screaming at me!!
The best part... I actually dropped 3 pounds ( I wasn't really trying... I need to lose, like 10... but 3 is a start..) and next Saturday is a 90 minute launch for the gym where we get to sample all of the classes offered! ( BodyStep... BodyFlow.... BodyCombat... lots more... fun times!)

Ok.. on to the next thing... something wonky is going on with our hot water heater/ boiler???
We have 3 bathrooms... have managed to always take a bath ( jacuzzi) at night... I like my water HOT.... Ky always takes a shower and the kids usually alter nights for their baths. Never had a problem. Now... Ky takes her shower, and I barely get half a tub of hot water. Luke warm, maybe but certainly not hot. (And with the aching muscles that sucks, folks!)
The tech came and cleaned the furnace (I think??) but still... not working right. Ughhhh

Hubby finally purchased Trev his very first four-wheeler... from a friend.... for $250. Then the damn thing stalled in the back yard.... (its working now but let me tell ya what a fun night we had here in the crazy house when that transpired!)

Changing of my work hours and that of my coworkers, without our consent, has turned our office into a landmine.... any and all of us could snap at you in a heartbeat... watch out! (So if you need your eyes checked I really wouldn't recommend our office this week... OK.. just kiddin') But seriously, we are all very unhappy about being forced to work hours we were not hired for... am seriously looking for a new job!

Ky ( the teen) is hooked on Gay So Com .... along with Hubby.... GGRREEAATTT! So, we have a HUGE flat screen tv in the living room... Hubby's pride and joy, and now we also have the smaller tv from the kids play room hauled into the living room, sitting on an old tv stand.. so the 2 of them can play online together! Priceless! (so if you can hear me cursing every 5 minutes when they boot me offline... sorry bout that!)

On a positive note... Jocelyn (middle) met with her Dr this morning for her every-other-month ADHD medication check up and YEA!!! She gained 9 1/2 pounds since December!! This is big!! Huge!! (Jo is my little vegetarian and picky eater... plus her Concerta curbs her appetite!.. Plus she is naturally small anyway... 9 yrs old and she looks like she is 6 or 7!!..But next week we start her on a higher dose because now she is over the weight limit for the old dose!

I really totally don't understand the whole "woman's cycle" thing! I will throw this TMI out there... I had my tubes tied.. ( ok... cut, tied and cauterized LOL) and therefore I don't take any form of birth control. Ky does take the pill... the poor girl is miserable with nasty, painful periods ( I can relate) and so she takes a low dose pill to help with that. She just started on a new one... changing not only her menstrual cycle BUT mine in the process. WTF?? So tonight I have sore muscles and I am bleeding... and crampy.. sure, why not!! Oh... and back to Jojo.... she is teeny tiny, as I said before... but she is starting to get breasts... God help me!! Ky ( and she will kill me for this... is already a D cup and she is only 14!!! UGHHHH I am in some trouble here!)

On to the Not So Happy News!

This weekend marks the first anniversary of Michelle and Todd's death. So obviously this is going to be a tough weekend. It is, after all, Mother's Day weekend and though we are planning a cook out at my moms ( if I can still walk after the 90 minutes in hell at the gym Saturday) it is still going to be rough.

The ladies.... my sister, aunt, cousins, friends and Kylie and my niece Morgan are meeting at a Dunkin Donuts near the cemetery and then heading over there for some songs, prayers and just some general ladies time to cry, yell, scream and laugh, we hope, about the deaths. I am sure it isn't going to be an easy time... so I would ask you all for some prayers please!

Well... I think that's all for the night! Please be sure to check out the giveaways I have going on and a few great products I have been reviewing!!

GirlsGirlsGirls... Etsy Shop

Monday, May 4, 2009
I love Etsy!!

Before I began blogging I had never heard of Etsy ... but it honestly is one of the best things about blogging... I have found some really great things for sale on Etsy!

One of the best shops I have found, especially with having 2 girls... is GirlsGirlsGirls....Daisy's Designs.

At this awesome shop you can find headbands, hats, and hair clips, all handmade!

I approached the designer about a custom order for my niece, as my sister is so specific about the clothing she dresses her in. I asked for mostly browns and pinks. I wanted girly and fun!

I have to tell you, that less than a day later I received an email back with two attached pictures of the great ideas I was looking for. I was so pleased!

We received a headband and hat... matching...both in pink and brown!

The communication with the designer was second to none... easy... and very professional!

I also was thrilled with the speed of the order itself. In less than a week I had my package delivered right to my door.

Now let me just also tell you about the quality.

Both my sister and I loved the design and quality of the craftsmanship. Both pieces were soft to the touch and the bows, though made from a stiffer material, were removable if one were to choose to take them apart.

I would highly recommend any of the great products from GirlsGirlsGirls.

GirlsGirlsGirls has generously offered one of my lucky readers any one item from her Etsy page.

To enter this contest please go to GirlsGirlsGirls and look around a bit.Let me know here in a comment what item you would choose and who it would be for!!

That's all... this contest will be nice and simple!

* Don't forget to show some Etsy love and if you join Etsy, please please please mention GirlsGirlsGirls as a reference!! Thanks so much!!

Good luck. Contest will end May 15th at 11:59 PM EST

Winner will be chosen by Random.org and will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.

Please make sure I have a way to reach you!!

Thanks !!!!

Quotable Sundays~5/3

Sunday, May 3, 2009
Its Quotable Sunday's over at Toni's.
I spent the afternoon yesterday at the gym with my sister, helping her film her application for certification to teach Body Pump... an aerobic workout with weights.

I.... cant..... move..... this ...... morning!
It has been so long since I worked all those muscles at once that my little body is very sore.
But it just reminds me that I have to get more motivated to work out. I once was an aerobics instructor myself.... so time to get back into it!!
So my quotes today are on Exercise.

1."Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness." ~Edward Stanley

2."Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." ~Plato

3."Fitness - if it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body"~Cher

4."A man's health can be judged by which he takes two at a time - pills or stairs." ~Joan
Welsh

5."The word aerobics came about when the gym instructors got together and said, "If we're going to charge $10 an hour, we can't call it jumping up and down." ~Rita Rudner

and my personal favorite:
"I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing." ~Marsha Doble

LashFood Lash Conditioner and Growth Treatment

Saturday, May 2, 2009

I had the great opportunity to try a pretty cool product a few weeks ago!

LashFood is a product designed to help condition, grow and strengthen your lashes and can even be used for sparse eyebrows ( not at all my problem... I am forever waxing... )

But my lashes are extremely thin and short, so I was skeptical when I received this product in the mail.

I had heard of LashFood before. It was given out in some of the awesome gift bags at the Oscars and a ton of celebs use this product.

I have been using it now for a little over a week... the recommended time frame for noticeable results says 2-4 weeks and I was prepared to do this review in another week of 2 BUT I can honestly say that I am amazed at the difference in my lashes in just a little over a week! Because my lashes are so thin I always use mascara and am never truly happy with how it looks on me.

Clumpy and messy and certainly not like all the mascara commercials but since using LashFood, I do notice my lashes a bit thicker and they do seem like they are growing slightly. The best benefit so far has been that because of the new thickness and conditioning going on, the mascara looks awesome! No clumping and it just seems to go on smoother!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to grow their lashes longer, naturally.

The makers of LashFood had this to say:

"Nourish your lashes with this natural conditioning stimulant. LASHFOODTM uses natural ingredients that provides you with stunning results: thicker, darker, stronger, longer, more beautiful lashes. Apply LASHFOODTM in the same manner as if applying eyeliner twice a day (morning and evening) and see results within 2-4 weeks! Uniquely formulated by cosmetic scientists, this breakthrough natural, liquid formula of biotin and arginine (natural amino acids) and iris extract (natural oriental medicine complex extract) promotes the natural growth of healthy lashes"

I will be continuing to use this really awesome product! Be sure to head over to LashFood.com and see for yourself!!
